Kota was asleep like this on the back deck, and it made me laugh. It made Ansley laugh, too, so we had to take a picture. And then it ended up being the only picture I took on this day. Even though I could've taken a picture of Ansley as she wrapped up VBS, which she really enjoyed. But I didn't. So here's the cat shot.
Nothing says summer like a cold watermelon on a hot day. And I do mean HOT. It is ridiculously hot around here, but every time I'm tempted to complain, I remember the country song that says "I have moments when I curse the rain, then complain when the sun's too hot. I look around at what everyone has, and I forget about all I've got." And I'm not really a Montgomery Gentry fan, but those lyrics stick with me for some reason. So I'm not gonna focus on the heat, I'm gonna focus on the watermelon. It's good stuff. And the Boy is quite fond of it too.
Day 2 of swimming lessons, and Ansley is like a fish. She is LOVING it, and so proud of herself! She can't wait for swim lessons every day. Fortunately, she has two weeks of them! She'll be swimming better than her Mama real soon.
This is kind of like a pass, but not really. We have had quite the thunderstorms this week. So technically, this is a picture of that. But it really tells nothing about our day, and it's not even a significant part of this day, it was just the only picture I had.
So here's the story that isn't in the picture: Dropped Ansley off at VBS, had a playdate at the park with Jake and Riece, got a milkshake for Christian, picked Ansley up from VBS, naptime, Ansley had swim lessons, played at the pool, went to eat with friends Chris and Rachel where we got to see Chris surprise (and I mean TOTALLY surprise) Rachel with a new van! That would have been the great picture for the day, or really any one of those things, but all I got were these ominous storm clouds.
For now, Christian sleeps in a twin mattress on the floor until we can figure out what we are going to do, bed wise. He is doing great though, and we have not had a single issue with him waking up at night or too early in the morning. I hate to even type that, but so far, so good. He loves his "big boy bed!" Well, really big boy mattress.
We all went to church together this morning, and then enjoyed Lunch on the Lawn afterwards. Here is Mack, Hamilton, Gabi, Ansley and Christian. (Ashley used to babysit for Gabi and work for Gabi's dad, who recently passed away, so Ashley was spending some time with her this afternoon.) The kids had a great time running around before we had to head back home.

I had to add this one after Ashley sent it to me. The boys in the pool together. So cute!
Kimberly, me, Ashley and Ansley. I'm not sure why I am the only one who looks like the sun is bothering me. This was right before we headed out for our girls night (minus Ansley, of course.) I love how she's on her tippy toes. And I love these girls.
Whoops. I got nothin'. And no reason for it, except it was a busy day.
Today we headed to the pool with my friend Ellen and her kids Eliza, David and baby MJ. This is definitely the Summer of the Fish. My kids LOVE the pool. Ansley could spend all day there, and even Christian loves playing in the water, which is quite a change from last summer. One day I'll get a picture of the kids together, because Ansley loves to be Eliza's little mother, and Christian and David are the same age so they share funny things like "Hey, David! My name is C-pup!"
I love that lunch is delivered to us poolside so the fun never has to stop. Oh, the little joys of summer!
