I love tradition. A new tradition we have added this year is the celebration of advent. We did this as a family when I was growing up, and it's something I have wanted to do with my own children. So tonight we celebrated the first Sunday in Advent with helping the kids understand what it means, Scripture reading, and singing.

I take pictures. This blog is a way for me to capture the every day moments in this season of my life before it becomes too foggy in my memory for me to recall. This is a tangible reminder of what my life was like, what we did, what was important to us, how we spent our days. These are the every day matters, because to me, every day matters.

There she is! I didn't realize I had taken so many photos of Christian - I guess I got used to it just being him. But never fear, she is here! She's taking a break helping Mimi fix breakfast to pose for a quick picture. And I don't want to portray an uneven picture - Ansley really loves her Mimi, too! She had a great time with just the two of them!

I think this photo is so adorable. I think it really sums up how much Christian loves his Mimi. Granna and Papa Joe left this morning, and my Mom and I did a little Black Friday shopping. When we returned home, Christian came running out the door and ran to Mimi's side of the car. Not Mama's side. Mimi's side. But I am so happy they have the relationship that they do.

Thanksgiving Day. My Mom, John's mom and Joe all came for Thanksgiving. We had a busy morning getting everything ready, but it was a fun filled family day. We have so much to be thankful for.

Mimi and Ansley arrived today! Christian was very excited to see Ansley again, and of course, Mimi! He really missed Ansley, but he does LOVE to see his Mimi. He was getting geared up for helping with Thanksgiving today. He tried on Ansley's butterfly apron and was ready to go!

I know. You see the similarity in today's and yesterday's photos? So I cheated. Both the photos were taken today. I didn't even manage a photo yesterday, I was feeling so bad. But I didn't want to pass. So I guess this is a cheat/pass.
Today I was feeling much better than yesterday, but still not quite back to normal. We did get a lot of shopping done though.

John is off this week, and today he had a Thanksgiving lunch at work that Christian and I were going to join him for. But when I woke up this morning, I felt a little funny. I got up and got ready, but by that time I knew that I had a stomach virus. I hardly ever get stomach viruses, but if there was ever a perfect day to get one, today was that day. John took Christian with him (and Ansley is still at Mimi's) so I had an afternoon to just rest (in between all the puking). But I did have this cute face to see later that afternoon.
A great weight loss plan right before Thanksgiving, but probably not my preference.

I know it's a weird picture. I really am finding that time with the boy goes so fast, and we are staying so busy, that it's hard to find the time to take a picture. So I remembered this evening that I needed to take a picture, and this is what I got. We did all our Thanksgiving shopping today, so now we are ready. And John only had to go back to the store twice for things we forgot.

Since we took Thanksgiving week off from school, and we were already at Mimi's, it was the perfect time for Ansley to stay with Mimi for a little one on one time. She has been so excited about this and looking forward to it for weeks! But it's also a good time for us to have some (rare) one on one time with Christian. Here, John and Christian are chasing each other around the kitchen, as you can see, but what you can't see...or, more accurately, hear...are the squeals of Christian's giggling. So cute!

We had a fun time at Mimi's, and it was great to have company while John traveled. We did lots of shopping, chatting, eating, playing lots of games, hanging out with JonJon and Missy, and of course, scootering. Fortunately the weather was beautiful, so we were able to get outside almost every day and get some exercise. Ansley has really improved on her scootering abilities, and Christian isn't too far behind!
