Today we drove to Asheville to have family pictures made, as well as Ansley's six year photos. I have been stressing for weeks, trying to find the right outfits and make sure everything is perfect. So when we arrived at the location, and it was pouring down rain, I was seriously bummed. But, thankfully, the rain cleared in thirty minutes or so, and it turned out to be a great day for photos! I can't wait to see them. They will be up on Monday, and I'll be sure to post the link.
Coming in from parasailing, where the guy said he'd give us "a little dip." Well, see how John is a little lower than the rest of us? Yeah, that's why his whole hiney got soaked and me and Ans only got our feet wet. He wasn't so happy about that. But it was very high, and really cool.
Ansley has never quite looked the same since joining the Witness Protection Program. Mimi bought them both these hats, and surprisingly Christian wore it quite a bit. And Ansley, who has never been fond of hats, wore hers as well. I thought they looked pretty cute in them!
Christian LOVED seashells, and often collected them on the beach in a little bucket. Here they are sorting the seashells - it's important that they have the SAME NUMBER. And they are wearing matching shirts because the restaurant we ate at that evening (Harbor Docks) gave them to 'em. I guess he thought they were cute, or he wasn't selling many Harbor Docks t-shirts.
Christian took less than a day to warm up to the ocean, and then he was playing in the surf, letting the water knock him over and even going out on a float! (Picture to come) He loved the sand and water and is quickly following in his sister's sandy footsteps.
Ansley was showing off her cursive skills this morning, in her new Braves shirt that JonJon and Missy got for her. We explained to her who the Braves are, and why it's significant (because she was born in Georgia). She thought that was pretty cool, and wore this shirt quite a bit during the week.
This girl loved the ocean from Day One. She jumped in the surf, went out on her boogie board, snorkeled, swam, and started all over again. She is definitely a beach girl!
There was pure giddiness leading up to this vacation. The kids were SO excited, and talked about lots of memories from the previous year. I think the nine hour drive really builds up the giddy factor, too. By the time we got there around 4:30, everyone was ready to get out of the car and run around. Ansley got soaking wet even though she was in her clothes, and Christian was cautiously (as usual) playful on the beach.
What? You were expecting a roller coaster shot, or a cute picture of the four of us, perhaps, in front of the Six Flags sign? Not much keeps me from my camera mission, but hot and sweaty = no camera. So this is the shot on our way home, as I remembered I had no picture for that day, of the eight lanes of Atlanta traffic. Crazy!
