This boy LOVES Legos. Loves them. While I am teaching Ansley, he is usually either building something with Legos or pouring through this Lego book, learning how to make things. This book is a Star Wars Lego book, which is like the perfect duo in Christian's world.

I take pictures. This blog is a way for me to capture the every day moments in this season of my life before it becomes too foggy in my memory for me to recall. This is a tangible reminder of what my life was like, what we did, what was important to us, how we spent our days. These are the every day matters, because to me, every day matters.

(Today would have been my Dad's 66th birthday. We went to Cracker Barrel after Ansley's dance class, and we all had pinto beans in celebration of him. He is very missed here!)

Our neighbor (that we know and love) asked these two to attend a BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) with her. They were excited about it, so we let them go. They left around 6, and got home a little after 9 (they got ice cream as well). John and I took advantage of the time with just Avery and went to Target. Is it revealing how we choose to spend our "free" time? Once they got home, we found out that Ansley really enjoyed it, but Christian didn't (which I could have predicted). We will see if it's something they want to keep doing or not. This was a late night shot this evening - going to bed really late, but so comfy in their pj's! (You know it's cold when Ansley busts out the winter pj's!)

A typical Sunday afternoon. Avery is napping, and the kids are playing. Christian is playing with Parker and Ansley is playing with Avery (both neighbors) and they always get along really well, despite the age difference between Parker and Christian. (Ansley, Avery and Parker are all the same age.) Then after naptime, we head over to Mimi's for our Sunday dinner. A perfect Sunday!

Since we just had Avery for most of the day, we did something we rarely get to do anymore....shop! I shouldn't say we don't get to, I should say we choose not to because of the challenges of lugging three around to do things they aren't the least bit interested in. Today we found these outdoor rugs for our porch, which I love! (There's two of them, one for each side.) We also rearranged our porch, and the new rugs combined with this fabulous fall weather makes this one of my favorite spots! (You can see the throw out there, too - it was that chilly! My kids also love wrapping up in blankets every chance they get, though.)
September 21, 2012 Part I
This afternoon Ansley left for a super fun slumber party in the mountains. Her friend Kennedy (right) turned 10, so Ansley and Rylee (left) joined Kennedy's family for horseback riding and spending the night at a cabin in the mountains. This was after the horseback riding, where they stopped at a Mexican restaurant (apparently known for their large burritos). Ansley had a great time!
(When Christian found out about Ansley going to the party, he asked Mimi if he could spend the night with her, and of course Mimi said "sure!" So Ansley was off with friends, Christian was off with Mimi, which made for a quiet evening with me and John and Avery.)

Christian is learning all about leaves in school now, so today we got lots of different kinds of leaves and made a leaf book and did leaf rubbings. He really liked these! And yes, you do see a toddler foot on the table, why do you ask? It definitely seems like the norm to me now. And also, it was chilly this morning when we were outside, so the kids rushed to their fall wear. But then in the afternoon, they were back to their shorts and t-shirts. I am ready for fall weather though!
