We were supposed to go to the pumpkin farm today. Everyone was all geared up and excited about it.
But then around 6:30 am, I thought an alien inside me was trying to cut his way out of me with a knife. Too dramatic? Perhaps. But pain and I have never gotten along well, and this kind of pain is just over the top ridiculous. I could hardly move. It literally made me cry and gasp.
I was familiar with this pain.
I knew it was kidney stones, but I also knew the pain must stop soon. Mimi came over to watch the kids, and John and I headed to the ER. About five hours later, they confirmed by bloodwork, a urine test and a CAT scan that yes, it was a kidney stone, and yes, there are more, but we don't know when they will decide to create spasms within.
Needless to say, we didn't make it to the pumpkin farm. We spent most of the day here, in my little room in the ER.
