I feel like this is going on too long, I'm rushing to get a new blog every day so it doesn't take forever, the comments are going down....so this will be my last post on Hawaii and then we'll resume regular blogging. You can still see the photos from the entire vacation in the Hawaii album on the left, as I edit them and get them in there.
For Day 4, I think....I'm losing track, but anyway Dick and John played golf and Jodi and I went to this International Market and shopped all day. I can't speak for the golf (although I know John enjoyed it) but the market was cool. I got a few dresses for me, a few for Ansley, a Hawaiian shirt for Christian and John, some necklaces, a Hawaiian children's book for the kids, and some hair clips. But, I didn't take a single picture on this day until the very end (see Project 366).
We took a drive to the green sand beach on Day 5 (I think). It was cool to see green sand on a beach (which comes from the lava, and is where peridot, the August birthstone, comes from).
It was beautiful, and we all went swimming in the ocean as well, but of course there aren't any pictures of that. I'm not a huge fan of getting in the ocean, really, but I did just so I could say I'd been in the Pacific Ocean. The undertow was extremely strong, and you could feel it pushing and pulling at you. After a wave knocked me down, I got out.
A fun picture on the rocks - John came from behind and was pretending to push me into the water, which is why I have that look on my face.
We stopped at the southern most point in the US as well, called, oddly enough, South Point. It was pretty windy that day, and we were balancing on all those rocks, so....
Then we stopped at a black sand beach as well. We took some sand from both the green and the black beaches to bring home with us.
A fun day!
Normal blogging to resume, but keep checking the Hawaii album.
Hi Megan. I have enjoyed reading about Hawaii and seeing all the fabulous photos. I think the black sand is pretty cool. I thought about you when I saw something the other day that we had never seen before - we were stopped behind a convertible at a stop light with a Hawaii license plate! A rainbow with Aloha state at the bottom. :)
