But if it were, it would be about soccer.
We temporarily interrupt this blog to bring you Game Day #3.
Ansley had her third game on Saturday. It was also Picture Day, and they asked you to be there an hour before the 4 pm game, so John and Ansley arrived at 3 so they could promptly take the pictures at 3:45 and then start the game.
Christian and I showed up at gametime. As always, it's really a very entertaining game to watch. This time, it was against the Red Team. Ansley still does a great job at tracking the ball and running, man, that girl runs, after the ball. Here, she is running to us after getting a kick in. Can you tell she was proud?
(Hey, Lady? Did anyone inform you there's a soccer game going on?)
At this game, Ansley befriended Abby, a six-year old on her team. They started off chatting together in the middle of the field, and pretty soon they were holding hands, running after the ball together. That's really the team spirit of soccer, don't you think?
Ansley does a LOT of this during each game.
And she looks very cute doing it.
See the coach in the above picture holding the girl in red up? This girl was SERIOUSLY the worst behaved five year old I have ever seen. I could not stop watching her. She would sit in the middle of the field, run inside the goal, try and climb the goal, become Jell-O girl when the coach would try to get her to participate. It was CRAZY.
Anyway, Ansley's getting the hang of it. And besides, it really is fun to watch her participate in team sports. There were two girls on the Red Team that were their star players. They scored all five of their goals, and they were GOOD. And watching them, I couldn't help but wonder if Ansley will be a team's star player one day.
I go back and forth. Gymnastics! Sports! Gymnastics! Sports!
Clogging is only thrown in the mix on occasion.
Because it really seems like girls who are good at one aren't good at the other, don't you think? You're either a sporty type girl, or a gymnast/dance type girl. (Or, I suppose, Option C is neither, and you have a totally different gift.) Not that I will get a choice in the matter, which is for the best. I wouldn't be able to decide. But I'm very interested to see what Ansley will lean towards.
Gymnastics? Sports?
In the end, the Yellow Jackets lost 5-3. The Jackets have won one game and lost two.
But Ansley and Abby sure had a great time chasing that ball together on the field.
I'm glad Ansley is having fun playing soccer. Sarah just started practicing and she said the best part is Derek coaching her team. Hannah is staying in gymnastics this year, but she wants to be out there with Sarah.

Ahh, come on...gymnastics is absolutely the best SPORT! I was a soccer player early on, but a gymnast for 18 years. When Aidan is involved in action sports as I call them, the coach asks where he gets his coordination and it all comes from that gymnastics that he is still actively involved in. So I say, GO FOR BOTH! Horray for Ansley!
