Our second weekend: our good friends Tim and Sara, along with their kids, Kaitlyn and Zachary, came to visit. It was a beautiful weekend here! Ansley talked all day Friday about Kaitlyn coming, and kept asking when she would be here. They hit it off right away, and chatted, played girlie things and held hands all weekend long.
On Saturday, we went to the mountains to enjoy the scenery and a picnic. This was along the Foothills Parkway, which is only open a few times a year, and happened to be open on this day.
Did you do a double-take on the photo above? This photo documents the FIRST time in almost TWO YEARS that Ansley has worn jeans. Happily. She claims she likes them now. Who says only babies have milestones? It's huge. It opens so many possibilities for us!
Then we found a cozy spot for a picnic. We greatly underestimated the temperature!
We should have brought jackets. Ironically, Ansley grabbed her new pink fuzzy jacket, and I told her it wouldn't be that cold! Oops. The high for the day didn't even reach the mid-50's. The girls are looking at a fire we had going in the grill. It was keeping us all warm! We all enjoyed yummy hot dogs and burgers on the grill.
Then we headed to Laurel Falls, where we hiked to the top.
Like I said, it was CHILLY. Here is how Zachary got to travel to the top:
Here we are at the top!
(You may notice that John and I both had our Tennessee wear, which is even crazier considering Tennessee played Mississippi State on Saturday, my alma mater. I guess we are officially orange. Knoxville just does that to ya. It also makes you use words like ya.)
Another view:
Saturday night we got our babysitter to come over after the boys were in bed, and the adults enjoyed dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, Lakeside Tavern. It was nice to just have adult conversation and catching up.
Tim and Sara are the very first people we met when we moved to Atlanta in 2001. So, like all our other good friends there, we knew them before either of us had kids, so it's been fun to see our families grow and enjoy spending time together. Sara and I always laugh a lot when we are around each other. And by a lot, I mean often AND with tears rolling down our faces!
This morning we went to breakfast at my favorite restaurant, Mimi's, and then they headed out. Mimi's didn't go well....let's just say the entire meal was comped by the manager! So our weekend ended on a somewhat hectic note, yet afterwards in the parking lot we were all laughing our heads off.
A great weekend!
Thanks again for a fabulous weekend! We were talking about it on the ride home, and the weekend was so relaxing and enjoyable. We look forward to doing it again, and treasure our friendship with y'all.

Hope y'all still have enough 'hospitality' left in ya for your other crazy Atlanta friends! HA! We can't wait. So glad that you've been able to have friendly company for the month of October! And I can't believe y'all in your UT stuff...cracks me up. Wrapped your b'day present today...can't wait to give it to you!

Who took the pictures of the whole group? It looks like fun but I'm sure it was cold. It makes you move faster!!!

So glad you enjoyed another weekend with good friends. :) Seeing your pictures of the trees turning makes me want to be there for autumn in the mountains! I was happy to read that you had your care group over for lunch. Sounds like a great week with friend - old and new.

Looks like so much fun! We see them every week at church. They sit right in front of us and I didn't see them on Sunday! Looks like they were driving home for the afternoon.
