There are so many great things about technology today, and being able to keep up with friends and family through email and blogs ranks as one of the best things, in my mind. What drew me to blogging was actually reading about our music director in Atlanta, Rick Pearson, and his journey through leukemia, and I was just amazed at the information that could reach so many people, so we could be praying specifically. And the encouragement. Even though I didn't know him, I felt like I did through that journey, and I cried over his death at the seemingly short lifespan of 22.
A friend of mine from Idaho (we lived there for two years, in case you didn't know) was diagnosed with breast cancer almost a year ago (she is linked on my blog) and I have followed her journey through her chemo and ups and downs. It has been a great way to keep up and know what's going on and be able to pray for what needs praying. This week, she found out that the cancer has spread to her bone, and the prognosis is not what we had been praying for.
I'm all the way in Tennessee, and she is at the other end of the country, in a hospital bed. What can I do?
And then it hit me: I can put it on my blog and ask you, all my blog readers, for a favor. It won't take long and will only cost forty-two cents.
Will you join me in dropping ReNee a note of encouragement in the mail? You can buy a card, but you can just as easily make one, or even write a note of encouragement on an index card! I have a feeling that ReNee would really be blessed by this, not to mention encouraged and uplifted. I know that most of you don't know her, but just a note to know that she was prayed over with a Bible verse, or a song whose lyrics mean something to you - anything, but I know it would mean a lot to her.
She has a site that you can leave messages on, but a note in the mail is so much more personal, and I just really felt a nudge at my heart to do this, so I am praying that she will be blessed by this!
I would put her address on here, but I hate to do that for privacy reasons, so if you will join me in this, will you please drop me an email and I will send you her address.
So, five minutes and forty-two cents. That's all I ask, dear readers! Please? For the love of ReNee.
Megan,
What a wonderful thing to do!! ReNee will love it!! And I'm sure Laura and Kyral will love helping her read the notes. You are an amazing friend!! Don't worry, I have her address. You bring tears of joy and love to my eyes with your gesture!

Andrea

Megan,
I would be more than happy to write a note to your friend. Because you have been through cancer with a loved one, I know you know how best to minister to those in this journey of life. Let me know her address and I will get her something in the mail.

Megan,
I know we don't know each other, but I am a five year breast cancer survivor. I lived in your parents neighborhood in Greenville and played Bunko with your Mom. Your Mom was a great support during a difficult time for my family and I. I would love to send a card to your friend. Please send me her address. I love reading your blog and keeping up with Marsha and the rest of your family. Both of your parents were very specail people. Sincerely. Teresa Woods
