We headed to Alabama to visit Granna and Papa Joe for the weekend. They have a beautiful home on a beautiful lake with lots to do. The only downside is the drive - it's a bit of a haul - especially with a grumpy two-year old.
But once we made it, it was non-stop fun (when the rain didn't interfere).
It took Ansley a little bit to warm up to the water again, but once she did, there was no stopping her. She didn't like starting out by herself (the water was too cold for the rest of us normal-blooded people) and she wanted JonJon to go in with her. But, sadly for her, JonJon was nowhere to be found.
We did get out on the boat a few times, which the kids really enjoyed. And the adults really enjoyed, too, until we got stopped by the Aqua Police. (That's not really what they're called; I just made that up.) Who knew the same rules applied on the lake as on the road? (If you did know, don't speak up too loudly.)
Christian really enjoyed the rides, but he couldn't like his life preserver. He liked to tell us that often.
I couldn't like a screaming two-year old fighting his life preserver. If he only knew what life PRESERVER meant, he wouldn't fight it so much.
Ansley enjoyed playing with Amanda, who is 14. Meet Amanda. She normally doesn't look like a dog, though.
Who knows why teenagers do what they do? (Only kidding; she had been face painting at a fair that morning.) At fourteen, you are officially official to drive your own Sea Doo. So Amanda took Ansley out on the Sea Doo. I'm not for sure, but I think based on the squealing and giggling, Ansley loved it.
I'm also not sure what the difference is between a Sea Doo and a Ski Doo, so I may use them interchangeably.
Christian wanted a ride, too, of course, so John and I took him out on another Seaski Doo. (I couldn't decide which one it was.)
He had a lot to say while he was riding, but we couldn't quite hear what all the chatter was about. But, safe to say, he loved it, too.
I think all that wind made him a little silly. Course that doesn't take much - the sun shining, a drink of water, coloring...any of those things could make him silly too.
That silly boy and his wind blown Mama, on the dock.
Thanks, Granna and Papa Joe, for a fun weekend at the lake!
Looks like you had a wonderful weekend with your family at the lake. :) Derek and I went to the MS homeschool conference and learned a lot.
