As you probably know, John loves projects. And together, we really make a good team. Even if part of that team is just there for moral support. I've learned in our 14 years of marriage that most often when John says he needs "help", he really means he wants company. So I have learned to "help" him by keeping him company while he produces fantastic results. It really works out well for me, especially when I'm pregnant. When I'm not pregnant, I try to get a bit more involved by tossing him a nail every now and then. Or a hammer, I'm pretty good at that.
Starting with Ansley, it has become a Greiner tradition, if you will, to create fun nurseries that we love and feel our children will love as well. I LOVE dreaming of the colors, searching for the perfect bedding, and then keeping John company while he makes it all come together. I love each of our children's rooms - they make me happy when I walk in them, I smile at the memories each holds, and it even makes putting away laundry more fun for me. But that could just be me.
So, of course, with the first news that we were having a girl, the search began. We knew we couldn't cheat Avery out of a beautiful room just because she is the third child. I found the bedding, and we painted the room pretty early on. I really love the color of her room! It makes me smile every time I walk in there.
Fortunately, we did hang on to the crib, dresser and rocker. But that is ALL that we had for a baby. We purchased the two nightstands. John made the nameplate above her crib and the four pink picture frames. I think they turned out beautifully! Many friends have been very generous in sharing their baby things with us, and we are very grateful.
We put a baby picture in each frame of the four of us, but eventually when we have pictures of baby Avery these will be replaced. I just like looking at pictures instead of blank frames. Can you guess who each baby is?
We had the rocker recovered, and it is super comfy and plush now! (It was yellow, because we went with a gender neutral color with our first since we weren't sure if a boy would be in our future. Now I suppose if another boy is in our future, he won't mind the pink.) We already had the lamps, we just updated the shades. We ordered the clock radio off of ebay, because we have always played Christian radio while our babies slept. (Still do.) It said it was in great condition, and then when we got it the CD player didn't work, and neither did the alarm. (Not that we needed that.) So we emailed the seller, and he gave it to us for free. Just a little side story for ya.
I couldn't resist this bunny. I think it jumped in the box when I ordered the lamp shades from Restoration Hardware. And I adore the colors in that blanket, which was a gift from a dear friend.
And don't worry, this baby girl will never be seen in just a diaper. I have calculated that she will need an outfit change every 9.6 minutes to go through all the clothes that she has.
I kid! Every couple hours should suffice.
I kept quite a few of Ansley's baby things, plus we are blessed with sweet friends who gave us lots of adorable things at my baby shower. Aaaannnddd I may have purchased a few things here and there. I can't recall.
Yet another view. John made that changer top for baby Ansley, so it has been through two babies now. I love things that are passed down and the memories that they hold!
It appears she will make her debut on February 15. I am scheduled for an induction at 7:30 am, but I go back to the doctor on Monday to check for progress. I am not really progressing much, but I'm prayerful that either way they will induce on the 15th. I am ready!
We can't wait to welcome her home and pray she enjoys her made-with-love room for years to come!
