I've never gardened before. I don't even recall seeing things grow in gardens. And honestly, I never really had a desire for one. Until now. Now meaning for about three years now. I've been dreaming of having my own garden since I started teaching Ansley.
Something is eating our garden. And I'm determined to save it.
John has put in so much work preparing the garden, and we have planted so much, so IT WILL NOT DIE.
The stress is turning me to drinking.
Just kidding. We are putting out beer, thinking that maybe it's slugs.
So far, all that's gotten us is.....pans of beer. And beer from a pan is not nearly as tasty as beer from a can.
Oh I kid. If you know us, you know that there are no beer drinkers in this family.
Which is why it felt so strange even buying beer from the store. And even though 14 years have come and gone since I hit the legal drinking age, I still feel like I have something to hide when purchasing alcohol. I'm not sure what that says about me, except that I'm not as young as I used to be.
We scattered some CD's about (someone suggested this) to scare away the birds.
This may be working. But we've had to replant some of them, because they were eaten so quickly they never even had a chance to survive.
We have a lot of growth, though, and it's so exciting for the kids to run see what is coming up. And for me, too.
I'm also excited at the possibility that when Christian grows his own vegetables, he'll actually eat them.
I'm not worried about Ansley. She eats tomatoes like an apple. Seriously.
But first, the bugs or birds have to go!
My gardener husband and mother said you need to put down a rabbit fence and then put liquid fence down as well. ;)
