I am so excited that our garden is producing! I'm bummed that the kids aren't here, because they would be excited right along with me. Although they have seen many things come from our garden, some of this is new. Here's our stash*:
4 peppers, 4 squash, 1 zucchini, 1 cucumber and a handful of pole beans. There is something really rewarding about a garden!
*I keep wanting to call this booty. But then I think of a pirate, and pirates certainly didn't have gardens so that doesn't make sense. So then I thought maybe bounty was the word I was looking for, but that made me think of bounty hunter so that didn't seem to fit.
I'm not one to make a vocabularical error on purpose, so I turned to Wikipedia.
bounty: an amount of money offered by an organization for the capture of a person or thing
booty: a nautical term for treasure
So, it seems that booty does fit. This is certainly treasure after all our blood, sweat and tears. Well, minus the blood. Aaaannnddd minus the tears now that I think about it. So really just the sweat. It was awfully hot when we planted that garden. I guess booty just sounds funny because of the other definition that Wikipedia had, but we won't discuss here. It's a family-friendly blog.
Have I really just spent the majority of this blog talking about bounty versus booty? This is what my life has come to, friends, when I've gone from three to one. It's sad, really.
But speaking of treasure? JACKPOT:
Found this at a small market today that we happened to drive by. Okay, that we've been madly stalking since we heard they were getting a shipment of Boylan's in. Have you not tried this root beer yet? You must. It is delicious!
How weird is that? A post not about kids at all. Very strange. What is my world coming to?
