I just finished reading You're Already Amazing by Holley Gerth. If you've spent any time on her blog, you know she is a gifted writer and life coach. These two things are wonderfully combined in her new book! As a book lover, sometimes I get so caught up in reading, getting to the next book, finishing the next book, that I forget to process and think about what I've just read. Not the case for this book - Holley asks very probing and thoughtful questions throughout each chapter that gets you thinking about your life and how to "become all God created you to be" (as the subtitle says).
I found this book to be very interesting. I really love the "explore your personality" type surveys and questions, so this book was very enlightening and encouraging for me. Holley explores the areas that we are gifted in, and then encourages you to use those gifts to be who God created you to be.
This is one of my favorite quotes:
"God's not the only one with a plan for your life. The enemy has one too. And if he can't get you to rebel outright, then sidetracking you and getting you outside your strengths is a pretty good alternative. Convincing an ear it needs to act like a hand is sure to limit its effectiveness, right? Your strengths are worth protecting. You are of incredible worth to the kingdom. Dare to be who you are - who God created you to be."
I just love that! It's so encouraging to just be reminded to be who you are called to be, not what others expect you to be, or what you think you should be. We all have such unique gifts that we bring to our family, our relationships, and the church body.
I was really encouraged by this book. I would highly recommend it for helping you find your passions, and heal part of the hurts that might have been damaged by the past. This book will bring hope to every woman!
Full Disclosure: I was sent this book by the publisher, at no cost to me, in exhange for my honest opinion. These thoughts and opinions are all my own.
