Because I keep seeing that Thanksgiving post and it already feels like a long time ago, which makes me feel like a blog slacker. So here goes:
1. So, I got sick when we were at Disney World. Then I got kidney stones. Then all three kids got majorly sick with high fevers, not eating, sleeping a lot. Then Mimi got sick. Then all three kids got a secondary infection and were on antibiotics. Then Mimi got a secondary infection and was on antibiotics. The last dose of the kids antibiotics ended yesterday. And GUESS WHAT? Today after karate Christian came home and laid down on the couch. Didn't want any dinner. Said his head hurt. Then his stomach. Took his temperature and whaddya know? It's 101.
Sigh.
2. Enough about that. (But probably not.) Our house is all decorated for Christmas. I love this time of year. We turn on approximately 10,000 lights every day, but it's just so cozy to have them all on and get school done and eat lunch with trees and garland everywhere.
3. Ansley woke up two mornings ago with a bad pull in her neck. Not like a oooh my neck smarts a little, but like a I must lay down all day with a heating pad and take Ibuprofen every four hours. So sad. Come to think of it, we are falling apart around here.
4. Ansley has missed three dance classes in a row. (Sick, sick, neck pull.) She is very sad about this.
5. Christian started karate this week. He loves it!
6. I have shared a little bit on here about how difficult it is these days to teach my older two with Avery. She is so stinkin' adorable, which is why I keep her, but she is also very demanding and into EVERYTHING. And by everything I mean not age appropriate toys, but everything ELSE: school supplies, especially scissors and markers, anything on tables, she especially loves to throw wipes everywhere, and scattering papers is her specialty. I just have to watch her every moment, or she will be into something. (I don't remember Christian being like this?!) It has been very challenging, and I have sought out wisdom from friends who have been there. I am trying to implement some changes in our school day to include her in different activities, but John and I also decided that I just need some help. So for two days a week for a couple of hours, I have someone come watch Avery for me so I can teach the other two. We started today, and it was GLORIOUS. It was absolutely fabulous to have Avery playing happily upstairs while we had several hours of uninterrupted school time. We got SO MUCH done. I wish I had thought of this sooner! I am really encouraged by this, and I just pray that it will bring a smoother pace to our school days (and keep that teacher a little more sane).
7. Some pumpkin spice donuts flew in my cart tonight when I had to run to Kroger to get.....well I might as well be honest....toilet paper. Is that sad or what? We had ONE ROLL in the entire house left. You know things are rough when you run out of toilet paper. But the pumpkin spice donuts did make everything better, just like they told me they would.
8. I am awaiting the results of a test to find out the cause of my kidney stones. I hope they don't tell me it's tea. I might just have to suffer through the stones before I give up the tea.
(This picture doesn't have anything to do with the top ten, I just thought I'd throw it in there. Otherwise this post is a lot of words.)
9. The kids are very excited for December 1. We have quite a few advent activities that we are hoping to do around here!
10. My car is in the shop this week, and I am driving a friend's car that she graciously loaned to me. It feels weird to drive someone else's car, but I have to say that because it's an SUV type car, all the kids sit in a row right behind me. In my van, Ansley and Christian are forever arguing over who is going to sit where (middle row or back-back), so I might be tempted to keep the SUV.
That's the quick update. What's new in your neck of the woods?
I am so happy that you have found some help with Avery during school. :) I sure hope everyone is well at your house very soon!
