This season of life is ridiculously busy. I have trouble keeping up. And I'm also making excuses for why I don't blog as often as I should. I know Ann Voskamp blogs every day and she has six kids, and The Pioneer Woman blogs every day and she has like four kids and both of them homeschool. But The Comparison Game is a slippery slope, so I try not to think of how much more wisely they must be spending their time. And also how they don't use awkward phrases like much more wisely.
For the love of memories, here's our typical week: dinner at Mimi's on Sundays, date night for me and John every other Monday, kids co-op on Tuesdays, Christian's karate on Tuesday, Ansley's dance on Wednesday, Christian's karate again on Thursday, Care Group every other Friday. Mixed in with various doctor or dentist appointments, birthday parties, get togethers, and meetings. And there's our life. I don't know what we will do when all three kids are in activities. Perhaps pass out from exhaustion.
But anyway, I pulled some pictures from my phone so I could randomly post about random things.
Ansley and I ran to the mall on Sunday afternoon, where she found this (at Gap Kids). And she fell in love. I can't put my finger on it, but I recall something very similar to this when I was a young(er) girl. I have yet to find any photographic evidence, but I'm almost positive. So I snapped this picture to show John. I just keep thinking that this outfit would be a huge pain to use the bathroom in. This outfit, the love of her life, did not come home with us.
The kids often take photos using my phone. And this is one of them. I have no idea. Singing? I could be screaming. I'm not sure. But one of those real life moments, I suppose, since it was actually taken. I just don't remember it or know what I was doing. Maybe I was yawning. That's a possibility.
Avery heading out the door at Publix. Before we were done, I might add. And it's blurry because she is ALWAYS MOVING. I think I've mentioned that we head to the grocery store after we eat dinner at Mimi's and it's working for us right now. We split the list and the kids in half (oh, not literally, don't worry) and get it done in half the time. And everyone helps carry them in and unpack and put away once we get home. It's really a win-win for everyone. But mostly for me.
John and I went out on Monday night, and here's where we ended up: Tupelo Honey. YUMMMMM. We had tried to go here with some friends on a Saturday night, and the wait was two hours. We didn't wait. So on this evening our wait was 15 minutes. This was the peach tea, so you know I was in heaven right from the start. Then they give you these monster huge biscuits with blackberry jam and, what else? Tupelo honey. SO DELICIOUS. Seriously amazing. We had shrimp and grits and trout, and split them. Oh and banana pudding because it was all so delicious we couldn't stop ordering.
Today we went to the mall for a bit while Ansley was at her co-op. I forgot the stroller. So Avery walked the whole time. She actually did surprisingly well, as we head into the last week of her one-ness.
Christian talked Mimi into getting this hat for him, because he wanted to look like JonJon. I think he looks adorable! (Christian, not JonJon.) And for a random side story, a lady stopped Christian at the mall today to ask him about his shirt. She thought Christian was cute, she said, and she was very sweet. But she kept calling him Dark Vader, which made Christian laugh. Hopefully she didn't notice.
So those are some random photos from the past several days. Life is busy, but I sure do love spending my days with these people!
The outfit Ansley loved reminds me of the Laura Ashley floral jumpers that were a fad in the 90's (I think freshman/sophomore year of high school for me--maybe 8th-9th grade...)
