It's so easy to let the days go by, and then one day I'll look up and say, wow, summer is gone and now it's time to start back to school. So, we created an intentional summertime list of all the things we'd like to do this summer. Then when the inevitable "I'm bored!" cries start, I pull out our handy list, and we pick something, and then summer doesn't go by as fast. (I'm not the only one with bored kids already, am I? No? Good.) Okay, it still does, but at least we will have a tractor trailer full of memories to look back on.
Did I just make that expression up? I sorta love it. Very Southern.
Some of my favorites are: have a midsummer night celebration, take a road trip, attend a baseball game, and do a random act of kindness.
Last weekend we crossed off make blackberry cobbler.
Today we crossed off two of them: make homemade popsicles, and run through the sprinklers.
All the kids joined in to make popsicles, because it was too hot to play outside (they proclaimed) and Avery woke up early from her nap. So I said, pick an item! And homemade popsicles it was. We made cookie dough popsicles. Ansley has a strong affinity for all things cookie dough, so we went with it. They were quite yummy - everyone loved them!
Then after dinner this evening, we pulled out a sprinkler and let the kids run through it. (Ansley was off with a friend.) Christian and Avery had such a good time together!
So, two off our list so far. I will try and document the rest of them as we cross them off.
How are you savoring summer?
Megan, what kind of popsicle mold did you buy? Where did you get it? I have been looking for one with your own sticks but haven't found one yet.
Love getting your posts and watching the kids get big. Miss you guys!- Jill
