I enjoyed the glimpse into your family's first day of the new homeschool year! It makes me smile to see how you and your kids have grown so much through these years of learning together. And Avery is sitting at the table (instead of climbing on top of it!) Lots of things to smile about . . . I have heard AWESOME things about MFW ECC from a close Corinth friend . . . School on the porch, your cats, and your desserts - all bring about smiles down here in MS!!! Hope your week is going well. School day #3 is usually a bit rocky for me. We are starting back officially on August 24th with lessons to prepare for our first co-op day on the 28th. Lydia will be in 3rd grade, Hannah in 7th, and Sarah in HIGH SCHOOL! A new adventure for this mama with my firstborn a 9th grader!!! We are using a hodge podge of curriculum, most of it assigned by our co-op classes. Ancient history and literature for everyone. Apologia science - biology for Sarah. Latina Christiana I for Lydia and Lingua Latina for Sarah and Hannah (their one class together.) All are using different Math. Only Sarah's geometry is at co-op and her teacher uses Math U See for just geometry. We are trying out something completely new with Hannah's pre-algebra. The Art of Problem Solving. We'll see! Lydia will use ABeka Arithmetic. Lydia will be learning cursive this year with Classically Cursive. I am hoping she will just wake up tomorrow knowing how to spell every word, but if not then hopefully starting All About Spelling will help. :) Thanks for the recommendation. For Language at co-op - Lydia will have Shurley English and Hannah will have Jensen's Grammar. Neither are my favorite but I don't know if there is a "perfect" language arts curriculum. I do like Rod and Staff we have used in the past. For Hannah and Sarah's composition classes - Classical Composition by James Selby. Hannah will use Traditonal Logic I from Memoria Press and Sarah will have rhetoric. It is a Cicero book. Another new one for me with all of this classical learning being new to me!! Sarah is adding standardized test prep and will take the ACT for the first time in the spring. It seems like a lot when I type it all out!!!! Lots of new studies for us this year so I am trying to simplify our extracurricular activities and cut back to just church, piano, and their homeschool running club. I am getting excited about our new year just thinking about it all! Thanks for sharing about your's.
