This week our Animal of the Week is the deer. And not just any deer! The white-tailed deer. But you knew that, because you could tell by this picture, I know. This is Christian's deer, which was so popular Ansley had to make one, and then they played with them all afternoon. Have I ever mentioned how much my kids love crafts?

(The orange and purple you see? Christian thought it was black and brown, until Ansley pointed out that it wasn't. Have I mentioned Christian is color blind?)

(But Week Three of the new curriculum: LOVING.)

Today me, Christian and Avery went to the mall (Ansley was at her co-op), where I decided it was close enough to fall to purchase fall scented soaps for the bathrooms. I LOVE this time of year! Well, I mean, not this time of year right now because it's still too hot, but when fall comes? Then I will be loving it. I love pumpkin scents and pumpkin treats, and I love how Christian says puh-kin and I don't correct him because he's my baby. Well, baby boy. But these soaps - they make me happy. And, they make me believe fall is coming.

Hello thirty six! Wow, you sound old. I am blessed with a wonderful husband who filled my day with special treats (donuts, an iPad, a new purse, flowers, getting home early, a family dinner), sweet children who wanted to bless me all day (pictures, serving me), and special friends who know me well (delivering books and sweet tea). A wonderful day!

We bought a new down comforter today.

But let's back up a little. I think it's story time.

Once upon a time there was a husband who was very particular about how he slept. Ten years previous, this husband and his wife purchased a plain blue comforter that the husband loved. However, there was another comforter, dark and heavy, that was used to decorate the bed but was never slept with. There was also another blanket that went on top of the blue comforter because the wife often got cold at night. Perhaps this story is revealing too much about this couple's sleeping habits. But this is the way it was, for TEN YEARS. (I really think that's quite a long time to keep the same comforter set.)

Enter: the down comforter. It replaces all these blankets and comforters and it is OH SO comfortable. And the bed is so much easier to make.

And everyone slept happily ever after.

We headed home today, the whole trip in one day. It's a LONG drive, especially for a baby, but she did GREAT and we are very thankful! (We left shortly before 8 am, to note, and actually made one more stop after this photo, so we arrived home at 6:30 pm.)

We watched a storm pass over the ocean this evening. I always think ocean storms are really cool to watch. It took quite a few snaps to get the timing right, but I really love this shot.
