Ansley lost her seventh tooth today. She is pretty much a pro now - she's been wiggling it for a few days, getting it just right, then her Daddy pulls it out, and she's happy and excited!

This is what I do.
I take pictures. This blog is a way for me to capture the every day moments in this season of my life before it becomes too foggy in my memory for me to recall. This is a tangible reminder of what my life was like, what we did, what was important to us, how we spent our days. These are the every day matters, because to me, every day matters.

My kids love to bake cookies, what can I say? They have been asking and asking for me to make sugar cookies so they could decorate them, so that's what we did today. I thought they would lose steam after a few cookies, but they kept right on decorating until the very end!

I love getting Christmas cards and enjoying all the photos and letters. We display them in our kitchen so we can see them all the time.
(And yes, it's possible that I'm struggling in these last few days of 2011 to remember to take a picture. So then at the end of the day I'm scrambling.)

Two of our favorite Christmas books: The Gingerbread Baby and Gingerbread Friends. My kids LOVE these books! They are so cute. And, of course, we had to make some gingerbread cookies to go with our reading!

I love sitting in the still and quiet of these Christmastime nights, after the kids have gone to bed, enjoying talking with John by the light of the Christmas tree.

I love that my kids enjoy looking back at the photo a day books. At this point, taking a picture every day has become second nature. There is rarely a day that I forget. It seems there is ALWAYS something to take a picture of around here!

Granna and Papa Joe (my mother in law and her husband) came in town for a few days to continue the keeping us company tradition. My mother in law has a gift of service, and I was spoiled while she was here! I woke up to breakfasts like this, enjoyed homemade dinners, and got to get Christmas shopping done. It was very helpful, and the kids had a good time too!

December 13, 2011 Part I
Today was Ansley's last co-op for the year, so they had a Christmas party and a "show and tell" ending in each class. This was Ansley's writing class, where she shared her portfolio of her writings from the semester. Then, if they wanted to, they could share their favorite story with the class. Here is Ansley sharing her story. It was so sweet, and such a fun ending to a great semester!
