I was very excited and honored to be asked to write a guest post for the (in)courage website. I wrote this article over the summer, but today was its debut on the website. It was a lot of fun to see all the comments from people who were blessed by my article. It's nice to be recognized for something I really enjoy doing anyway!

We have rediscovered a toy computer that has addition and subtraction games on it, so Ansley is required to use it for a certain amount of time each day. (I like that I don't have to worry about the internet, she likes it because it's different and not flash cards.) But, of course, anything that is intriguing to a big sister will also be intriguing to a little brother. So he has to have his "school time" on it too. Fortunately, there are letter and number games just for him!
(And if anyone has suggestions for how to make learning math facts fun, I'm all ears!)

Today while John and I were relaxing a bit from our busy Saturday, the kids decided it was time for a tea party. When I looked in the dining room, this is what I saw: a stuffed animal at every seat, along with a fancy plate and "teacup" as Ansley calls them. She knows nothing of coffee because we are tea drinkers around here, so a coffee cup wouldn't make sense to her.

My good friend Allison hosted a baby shower brunch for me this morning, and my good friend Ashley surprised me by showing up, even after she had told me she couldn't come! It was a fun surprise, and a great morning celebrating our soon to be arrival.
Ashley and I spent the afternoon together catching up while John got ready for our Movie Night Under the Stars that evening. He worked so hard while I definitely had a day of pampering. I am thankful for such a sweet husband, and sweet friends!

It's funny how so much of her personality when she was little is the same personality she has as a little bit older girl. She heard some music today, and just had to dance. This evening after John got home from work we took her out to a fondue restaurant, and then went to see Secretariat. A fun evening as an only child! We probably won't be able to have many more of these "only child" days.

Today we enjoyed a fun field trip with our group on the Nina and the Pinta. We learned lots of interesting information and got to tour the two boats. Afterwards, Ansley and I enjoyed lunch at the Apple Cake Tea Room (her request). I will say for the record that this girl definitely misses her brother!
