I shouldn't have spoken so soon about an almost four year old's obsession.

It appears I may have a slight tea obsession.

I was searching my cabinets for sugar this evening, and I kept coming across boxes of tea. I was quite amazed, really, at the collection I have accumulated. I should never purchase tea again. I just love hot tea in the mornings.....or evenings....or late at night....and so I keep thinking I need a new flavor. But I think I have enough flavors here to last quite awhile.

I am, however, in need of some sugar.

I love getting all the Christmas cards this time of  year, and seeing all the fun pictures, and seeing how much kids have grown for our friends we don't see as often. This little tree on our kitchen counter holds the Christmas cards, and it's such fun to look at them. We have gotten some really cute and clever cards this year!

I just have to document the serious, busy work of an almost four year old. His crown in place, pants on backwards, carrying his briefcase, lizard, and tin with his latest stuffed animal obsession (Freezer the reindeer) to do some serious work. I LOVE it.

We were at Chick-Fil-A last week for a birthday party, and Christian wanted to bring Mouser the mouse in with him, his obsession at that time. Christian has kinda become attached to certain items lately, like mice or mittens or reindeer. Anyway, he left it there, and the very next day I went back to retrieve it, and they said they had found it but couldn't find it. The first time in my life I have been disappointed with the Chick. So Freezer has replaced Mouser.

We had a Christmas party tonight, and when we returned home, we found this on our counter.

Inside were yummy treats - fudgy brownies, sausage pinwheels, shortbread cookies, and also a book, a card and a note. It was from our neighbors - we don't really know them well, but a year or so ago we delivered some treats to them, and our relationship has never been the same. They seem to really enjoy our kids. A couple weeks ago, I sent the kids over with a loaf of homemade bread to give to them. In her note, she talked about how she had been remembering her grandmother's homemade bread and wishing she knew how to make it when two beautiful elves (her words) rang her doorbell with homemade bread. She said it reminded her so much of her grandmother and how delicious it was and how much she appreciated it. It was really a very sweet story. It has sparked great conversation around here, and how often you can "write someone off" as snobby or rude when really they are just lonely.

We will be taking more treats to them this week.

Craft Day fun! We made cinnamon ornaments, candy cane ornaments, and pom-poms. This was after all the crafting: Christian, Panda Beary, Cow, Lydia, Kennedy, Savannah, Jonathan and Ansley.

What to do on an icy day when schools are closed and it's hard to convince a certain seven year old that it doesn't really matter at our home if the schools are closed? Well, school on the sofa, in your pj''s, of course! There may have been some hot chocolate and cookies with learning as well. It made for a fun morning of school!

This boy still hasn't really outgrown naps, he just can't sleep too long. But he has started to get attached to certain objects, and he doesn't let them go. These mittens, for instance, are his latest attachment. He wears them all the time, including while napping. It makes me laugh. This is his last month of being three; exactly one month from today, we will have a four year old.

We made cookies today. I tried to recreate this cookie that we all LOVE from a local restaurant. But, I didn't. Guess I'm not so good at recreating. But they weren't bad.

But it came, and it stuck! And with a high of only 23 today, it wasn't going anywhere. The kids played outside all day long, which is a lot of fun for them, and a lot of work for me. But that's okay - they went out three times and stayed for a lot longer than I thought they would. Here John is pulling them down the hill in our backyard, and it was so cute to hear the giggling and screaming!

We'd heard it was coming, but like all snow in the South, I don't really believe it until I see it. But it started coming this afternoon, and considering where we live, it did seem like a lot. The kids were very excited!
