It may look like tough work, pouring over spelling while sharing your chair with a cat, but Ansley LOVES it. Kota has always been more of a people cat than most, and prefers to be near instead of curled up on a bed somewhere. (It's VERY rare to find Kota asleep somewhere other than where we are during the day.) Lately she seems to prefer Ansley, and follows her around. She jumped up in this chair after Ansley was already sitting here, diligently working on spelling.

Today was such a beautiful day, and Christian wanted to get his bike out. Unfortunately his bike was too small for him, so he graduated to Ansley's bike. He's so proud, and he zips around the neighborhood now like a pro. He is ready for some greenway riding this spring! (As soon as we get Ansley a new bike.)
January 19, 2013 Part I
Today we celebrated Christian's sixth birthday with a karate party. We thought they really did a fabulous job! The highlights: Christian got to wear a black belt and help teach the class, all the kids got karate instruction, lots of fun games, cutting the cake with a sword, breaking a board, eating birthday cake, opening presents. It was a great time, and we sure do love our sweet boy!

The kids were SO excited that the snow was still around this morning. It was gone by this afternoon, but they had a blast in it while it was here. (I somehow managed to keep Avery inside because she is still nudie tudie.)

We finally got some snow today! It was so exciting! The kids were ready to get out in it, and I got Avery ready, not really sure what she'd think. She stayed out for awhile, walking around, trying to make snowballs, and riding in the sled that John was pulling. So cute. And the snow is so pretty!

Freshly six, enjoying his birthday donuts first thing this morning. Birthday recap: took cookies to co-op, his class sang to him, opened Mimi's gift, went to lunch with Daddy and birthday shopping (girls weren't feeling well), picked out a pocketknife and a new Wii game, went to karate, family dinner (Mimi too) at Calhoun's, came home and enjoyed a birthday pizookie. All in all, I'd say a great birthday! We love our sweet SIX year old!

I am returning to normal, but poor Ansley is still feeling rough. Today's high was around 70, so we opened up the porch and the kids played out there awhile. Well, Christian and Avery played and Ansley enjoyed sitting out there for some fresh air. This is the "fort" that Christian built for Avery. She loved it, and they played together for a long time in there. You can see her little feet in the shot on the left, and then a close up of her inside on the right.
