Most days, if my kids want to play with a zillion neighbors, they must play outside. It's just the kind of mom I am. I get super stressed and rather angry when there are a billion kids running in and out of my house, tracking mud, asking for drinks, popsicles, snacks, leaving doors open, letting flies in, waking my sleeping baby. I just can't handle it. But on a rare day (and when it's kids that I like) I let them bring their friends in briefly and have a little iPad time. Because the heat is starting to get to us all. And I must point out that you know Avery has warmed up to someone (Paige, in this case) when she snuggles in and is actually touching her. That would not happen if these were strangers.
