We have been in this house for almost eight years now, and we decided it was time for some fresh updates. The painting started today (this is before), and we are also recovering our sofa and chairs, as well as getting new curtains and updating things. I'll be sure and post some after pictures! We are excited to see it all come together!

I take pictures. This blog is a way for me to capture the every day moments in this season of my life before it becomes too foggy in my memory for me to recall. This is a tangible reminder of what my life was like, what we did, what was important to us, how we spent our days. These are the every day matters, because to me, every day matters.

I just love how pretty everything looks covered in white! It makes me stop and look everytime I pass a window, inside my cozy home, of course. Ansley and Christian are still enjoying playing in it, but Avery and I stay inside, enjoying the view.
January 28, 2014 Part I
Last night before I went to bed, I checked the weather and it showed a thirty percent chance of snow. I thought nothing of it. Then this morning around ten, we all started noticing it was coming down pretty good. Around noon, I thought perhaps activities would be cancelled, which they were (we would have had math class, ballet and karate today). Then John came home early, and I knew the roads must be getting bad. The kids enjoyed playing with neighbors all afternoon, and they had a blast. (Avery never went outside; she wanted to stay in.) Ansley is fortunate to have sweet friends in our neighborhood, so Paige and Rebekah came over to play. Christian is fortunate as well, since both these girls have brothers Christian's age, so Parker and John came over and played all afternoon, too. Girls are just easier to get cute photos of! But the boys all had a great time too!

These two are becoming such sweet playmates. In typical Avery fashion, she will walk up to Christian, smack him on the arm and yell "PWAY WIF ME?" She isn't angry, just incredibly loud. And she also calls him Christian half the time, and Anga the other half. We have no idea why, but we've all taken to calling him Anga about half the time, too. Usually he will play with her, and she doesn't mind what they play - Legos, throw a ball, ride plasma cars - just as long as he's doing it with her. (And it isn't that Ansley isn't playing with her, she just has more school to get done than Christian so he's usually the available one.)

I noticed this while I was fixing breakfast and couldn't help but smile at how these three pairs of feet were merged together. I think it's symbolic of the relationship that is developing between the three of them. They love being next to each other, a very present part of each other's daily lives. They sit together, snuggle together, sleep together, read together, learn together, play together. I find these days to be so, so sweet.

Ansley and Avery are obsessed with the songs from Frozen. Christian tolerates it because he loves his sisters, but first thing this morning they wanted to watch "Let it go! Let it go! Can't hold it back anymore......."
