This evening at small group the kids all celebrated Grace Elizabeth's birthday. It was so sweet to see these kids gather around to sing and celebrate. We have such a sweet small group!

Today we hopped in the car and made a Target run. I don't do this very often, but I needed to return some things, and I thought I'd let the kids pick out something for a little "end of the year" gift. (Christian picked Star Wars Legos, Ansley picked Lego Friends, and Avery picked a My Little Pony.) It was such a pleasant trip, chatting about different things, laughing, and most importantly with no screaming. I had flashbacks to not too long ago when it was very difficult to go anywhere. As Avery heads towards three and a half, I see a different little girl. So I snapped this quick photo to remember this fun day. I love how Avery looks so big, how you can see the gap where Christian just lost his tooth, and how Ansley is hanging out of the sunroof. I love these people, and I love spending my days with them.

Today we headed to Dollywood with our friends Duggan and Megan and their kids for John's birthday. It was such a fun day! We spent the entire day there, from 10 am to when they closed at 7 pm. The kids had a blast, it wasn't crowded, and the kids got to ride a bunch of rides. Avery rode a BUNCH of rides and had a blast. This was the first time Avery really enjoyed herself and didn't have any meltdowns the entire day. A very fun way to spend John's birthday! You can tell summer's almost here. Every day on the weekend, all the neighborhood kids are playing and laughing and hanging out together. Today, they were eating watermelon together. It's fun to hear all the fun and giggling these girls have together!

We finally planted our garden today! There has been something every weekend that's kept us from it, but I'm excited we finally got it done, even though it's a little late. This year we planted: cucumbers, squash, zucchini, tomatoes, eggplant, pole beans, lima beans, onions, cauliflower, peppers, strawberries, cantaloupe, and herbs. I'm excited for it to grow! I love our little garden. We also planted some flowers here and there to encourage pollenation. You can also see John's project from a few weekends ago - the little enclosure under the porch to keep Finn when we are gone. It's completely enclosed and has a little gate, and that way we don't have to rush back every 2-3 hours to let him out. So far he has done great with it, and seems to really enjoy it down there. Unfortunately, he also seems to really enjoy our garden, so that may present a challenge this year!

We went strawberry picking at Rutherford Farms today. It was a beautiful day, and the kids had a lot of fun! We went with sweet friends (Beth, Megan and Breanne) and there were 11 kids total. It was really muddy, and the kids got totally trashed. We all headed to Target afterwards and took turns running in to get replacement clothes. Then we all went to lunch together at Chick-Fil-A. It was such a fun day, and we brought home 15 pounds of strawberries!

Today we headed to an assisted living home with my friends Beth and Emilee and their kids. I also picked up Ansley's friend (and our neighbor) Rebekah to go with us. The kids decorated a maypole for the residents, and then we went inside and mingled with the residents. They were just the sweetest people, and the kids (and adults!) had a great time! We will definitely go back!

Finn and Julius are warming up to each other. Julius actually initiates interaction quite often, and doesn't flinch when Finn comes barreling towards him in puppy-like fashion. Smoky, however, is a bit more hesitant. But I can tell we are making huge progress, and that makes me happy. It will be nice when we are all one big happy family!
