I take pictures. This blog is a way for me to capture the every day moments in this season of my life before it becomes too foggy in my memory for me to recall. This is a tangible reminder of what my life was like, what we did, what was important to us, how we spent our days. These are the every day matters, because to me, every day matters.
I decided to make homemade cinnamon rolls for breakfast tomorrow, but a few of them disappeared today. The kids all said I should make them more often. (I think it's been a year since I've made them!) I agreed, and said I'd add it to my New Year's list.
Today we read one of my favorite Christmas books, Gingerbread Baby, and then made gingerbread men, of course. Avery really enjoyed the story this year, and everyone enjoyed cutting out and rolling gingerbread!
John and Ansley and his friend Michael and daughter Elaina (who is a good friend of Ansley's) went to the Tennessee Theatre to watch A White Christmas this afternoon.
We went bowling with our friends Duggan and Megan and all the kiddos. It was a fun family activity, and even though Avery didn't bowl a whole lot, she really enjoyed lining the balls up and eating pizza. And everyone enjoyed hanging out with friends!
I had this date circled on my calendar. I am a HUGE Annie fan, so we all headed out with Mimi and Ansley's friend Paige to go see it. We all enjoyed it (Avery got a little restless) but it was really cute!
Today we headed to Dollywood to enjoy some family fun for the Christmas season. We love going to Dollywood, and especially at Christmastime when it has thousands and thousands of lights everywhere. It is so pretty! We enjoyed some rides, watched the play A Christmas Carol (which was very good!), and watched a parade to end the day. And the bonus is there are NO lines since school is still in. A wonderful day!
Today we did one of my favorite crafts - making "stained glass" votives. It was Avery's first year participating, and she really enjoyed it! We put votives in them and lined them up for a cozy scene in our family room.
Mimi came over this morning and worked on gingerbread houses with the kids. Last year I found a gingerbread house mold on clearance, and I talked myself into it. It worked out really well, and the kids enjoyed decorating them. I think they turned out really cute!
